After departing the White House for the last time, outgoing President Donald Trump’s farewell speech at Joint Base Andrews was notable for lacking the one thing that he has long craved: large crowds.
The small crowd, which included first lady Melania Trump and most of his family members, was subdued and a far cry from the raucous rallies that defined his turbulent presidency.
CNN’s Jim Acosta noted that the attendees that were present were “definitely the smallest crowd size of the Trump presidency,” a stark contrast to the huge crowds that aided in his ascendency to the presidency four years ago.

Atendees waved flags and cheered as Trump spoke, but as he gave a rambling speech boasting about poll numbers and the accomplishments of his administration, the spark that created his MAGA movement seems to have gone out.
